RE: so disappointed in jayco and rv direct

If you are on the road traveling and have a major slide problem, it should not matter one dang bit where you bought it from. Warranty or not, any dealer should want to help you at least get back on the road, if not they are in the wrong line of work.
Sure glad the auto dealers don't have this attitude.

RE: diesel fuel, value and volatility

# Fuel Consumption A tank will need approximately 300 gallons every eight hours; this will vary depending on mission, terrain, and weather. A single tank takes 10 minutes to refuel. Refueling and rearming of a tank platoon--four tanks--is approximately 30 minutes under ideal conditions. 0.6 miles per gallon.
# 60 gallons per hour when traveling cross-country
# 30+ gallons per hour while operating at a tactical ideal
# 10 gallons basic idle
That sure sounds a lot like my boat!
Of course I only use abot 250 gals a year with it as we sit most of the time anchored out in a cove.

RE: Fort Davis State Park - Texas

I agree a very nice park. The entire region around there is beautiful.
I will be a couple mile up the road the 1st week of June at the Prude Ranch for the Texas Star Party. Many of the attendees stay at the park and have good things to say about it.

RE: You know fuel prices are high when . . .

When you measure trips by the gals instead of miles.
Oh wait, I do that now with my boat. Guess it is time to carry that over the the road.

RE: Cooper tires?

Do a search for Denman tires. Made in Mexico. I am very happy with my radials I put on my TT. they get good reviews, and mine were cheaper than Marathons too.
Oh, I have had about 6 sets of Cooper on my last trucks and really like them.

RE: Does adding a Truck Cap improve MPG

I am getting ready to do an experiment on my up coming 2400 mile round trip. I have done this same trip 2x and got 10.6mpg, and 10.9mpg. Difference was the small air deflector I made and installed on the top of leer topper.
Anyways, this next trip, I am mounting an old 10' flat bottom John boat on top. The back will be up about a 1' or so, and the boat front about at cab height. I can do the racks for almost nothing so I will have little invested, and I never use that john boat anymore either.
Will be interesting, and I do believe it will get me 1-2 mpg more. I have heard someone say that they do better with a canoe on top, so I thought this might be worth a try.
I should add that I have never towed this TT without a topper so can't comment on that.

RE: RV Purchases

I'm going to sit on it for a while I think. I have a decent little TT that does the job, however I either want to downsize to a smaller areodynamic shape or go up to a 5th. How is that for confused :)
So I will do a few star gazing trips this year, but mostly go sit on my cruiser at the lake. Key word is 'sit' on it because fuel on the lake is close to $1 per gal higher than road price. But then I can putz 5 minutes out to a cove and feel like I am in another world.
The sky is not falling, but I think it has a slight crack :)

RE: Potential scam - Head's up to you sellers out there

I get them wanting to buy cabinets or displays from my company. And ANY cabinet will work for them, any size, shape or color too. They want me to use their shipping company to ship it overseas. The last one I went like this,
I gave them a price.
They wanted me to contact the shipping company about it.
Then I gave them the price with shipping.
They gave me a couple credit card numbers, which where good.
Then, this is the scam part, I am to prepay the shipping company with Western union before they will pick it up.
Keep in mind that the Credit Card charges will go thru, so it looks legit so far.
Once you send cash thru Western Union you are scammed, game over you lose.
I also contacted the banks that issued cards and told them of the scam so they deactiviated the cards for the unsuspecting card holder.

RE: Is city ordinances common ???

If you don't like restrictions then don't build or buy there. If you do, it is your own fault so don't complain.
I like some restrictions to protect my property valve. Others don't, so we can all agree to disagree.

RE: Leaping Lizards!

When I lived in an apartment in Houston, many years ago, I turned a couple Tokay Geckos loose and never saw a roach or waterbug again. Seldom saw the geckos either, hope the next renters enjoyed them, along with the milk snake that got loose too :)

RE: vacuum toilets

Have it in our Sea Ray, it is great. Unless you have an air leak somewhere. Tank gasket is easy to fix, and I do mine about every other year. Never have done my duckbill valves yet.
My dock neighbor had a pressure sensor fail and it would not shut off. Easy fix once he figured it out. And I have seen some with small leaks in the vacum tank that you can actually hear if you get close to it.
If it leaks out the bowl slowly then it is that seal. Be sure after flushing that there is no TP left in the bowl around the seal as it will make it make it leak.

Heartland Sundance models and Cross Roads Cruisers are both right in that weight range, and have several kitchen arrangements.

RE: 2008 F350 6.4l MPG report

That 2000 rpm is the secrete on my truck. Hwy speed needs to be about 68 mph and it will get me around 18 mpg but drops to 16 or so if I go to 75 mph.
If I drive on 2 lane roads at 55 mph and really try, I have got 21 mpg but it is hard to drive like that every day.
Sorry didn't notice this was for the new 08 engine. That 18 mpg is about the best I have heard on it. See how it does for city with your new found soft throttle foot :)

RE: Pin weight VS GVW

So Cool Canuck, have you weighed your rig? I have the same truck, except 4x4, long bed, and if I follow the rules, I am going over my max pin with most nice 30' range 5th's.
If I remember correctly when I got weighed that I had about 1600lb capacity with full load of fuel and me.

RE: Dude has NEVER disinfect his water tank....

They watch too much "Monk" :)
I drain my RV water tank after each trip, never a problem.
I fill my boats water tank up completely and leave little to no air in it after each weekend. No problem with that either after 18 years.
I am not super human, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night :)

RE: Coleman Powermate is gone

If you bought it and it was advertised as having a warranty, when in fact the mfg was already bankrupt, then you have every right to expect a refund if you want to return it. You are not blaming Home Depot but they did sell a product with a mis-represented warranty.
Nothing wrong about returning it for that reason that I see??
But like others have said, if it works well...............

RE: Are posters here in denial??

I had been half heartedly tring to sell my cruiser for the last year or so as I wanted to travel more. But I did some figuring, and it is about 90 miles to my marina, so that is a cheap drive in a car. I bought only 250 gals of fuel last year and boated about every weekend during the summer, even at $4-5 per gal on the water that is not that much. Then my slip fee is about $3000 a year.
I generally pull the trailer on two or three 1 week trips of 2000-2400 miles each which at about 10+ mpg is almost my entire year of boat fuel I use in 1 week on the road.
Maybe boating isn't as bad as I thought? You could always park that RV on a barge :)

RE: Coleman Powermate is gone

Personally I think if you only bought it a week ago, and probably have not used it it sounds like. Take it back and tell them since powermate is bankrupt you would like to return it as it no longer will have a warranty.
I do not see this in the same league of those that are lying or trying to cheat the store with returning used goods or made up stories.

RE: 2008 2500 Dodge Diesel Truck

Why do some say that you weigh the truck, subtract the GVW and that what is left capacity, regardless of what your axles are rated for?
My truck is rated at 8800lbs and that is what I am told the max capacity of my truck with load should weigh. And in my case that leaves around 1600 lbs available for passengers, stuff, and pin weight. Sure the axles are rated for more but the total is suppose to be the limit. And what it can pull has absolutely nothing to do with this issue.
